Ayurveda for Arthritis

Arthritis is a word taken from Greek, and literally means ‘Joint-Inflammation’.Arthritis is a well-known disorder in the science of Ayurveda and is generally termed as Sandhi Vata.

Vata is the main dosha involved in arthritic conditions; however, Ama (toxins) and Agni (digestive fire) also included.

Causes of Arthritis:- 

• Eating excessively cold, dry, rough, bitter, astringent foods
• Irregular schedules or meal times
• Excessive traveling
• Excessive weight bearing (obesity, overweight)
• Over-activity
• High stress or high anxiety jobs or situations
• Lack of sound sleep
• Excessively cold or dry environments
• A physically or mentally traumatic event
• Repressed emotions
• Taking drugs
• Excessive stimulation and movement

Asanas for Arthrities-

  • Balasana or Child’s Pose
  • Downward-Facing Dog
  • Setubandhasana or Bridge pose
  • Vrikshasana or Tree pose
  • Veerbhadrasana or Warrior pose
  • Trikonasana or Triangle pose
