North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un Visited China, Meets With China’s President Xi

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited China from Sunday to Wednesday in his first trip outside his country during six years in power. The journey, which is believed to be Kim’s first foreign trip since he came to power in 2011, adds a new piece to a complex diplomatic puzzle over the future of North Korea’s nuclear program.

Kim said North Korea is determined to transform the inter-Korean ties into a relationship of reconciliation and cooperation and hold summit between the heads of the two sides.Xi avoided meeting Kim during his first five years in power, and the countries traded barbs at each other through state-run media.

Kim was accompanied by his wife Ri Sol Ju and many senior North Korean officials. The North obviously believes maintaining its traditional relationship with China would give it stronger influence over the United States
